Houston lost some big names in 2018. 

Former President George H.W. Bush and his wife, Barbara, both died this year, as did Houston Texans founder and local businessman Bob McNair. But there were several other prominent figures who passed away, as well.

The departed served in the public and private sectors and made names for themselves in an array of industries. Many founded and/or led Houston-based companies, while some were known for their public service or contributions in fields such as medicine.
