Peli Peli is going downtown.

The growing Houston-based restaurant group plans to open a new concept — Peli Deli — for nine months inside downtown’s historic Esperson Building, at 808 Travis St., according to a release. The deli will take over the building’s Murphy’s Deli space beginning in March.

“After this nine-month experiment, we will have to decide if we want to sign a long-term lease or move onto other projects,” Chief Marketing Officer Thomas Nguyen said in an emailed statement.
