Houston-based ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP) has appointed William McRaven, retired admiral of the U.S. Navy, to its board of directors.

McRaven will sit on ConocoPhillips’ audit and finance committee, along with the human resources and compensation committee, according to an Oct. 5 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
